Estherville Eels Swim to Several State Titles

A trio of state champions led the Estherville Eels swim team effort at the Wellmark YMCA in Des Moines, Iowa over the weekend. 

The Eels brought home a total of 30 medals from the State Meet. 

Emmet Miller won a trio of events in the Boys 11-12 age bracket. He took home the top medal in the 100 Yard Freestyle with a time of 59.10, 100 Yard Individual Medley in 1:11.34, and the 50 Yard Freestyle in 27.45. Corbin Vedder earned the third place medal behind Miller in the 100 Yard Freestyle. Vedder took second in the 50 Yard Breaststroke ahead of Miller in fourth place. Vedder also finished runner-up in the 100 Yard Breaststroke as well as fourth in the 50 Yard Butterfly and 200 Yard Freestyle. 

Wyatt Petersen won the 50 Yard Butterfly in the Boys 13-14 age group with a time of 29.14. He also finished fifth place in the 50 Yard Breaststroke and Freestyle as well as the 100 Yard Freestyle. 

Maxwell Runck won the Boys 8 & Under 50 Yard Freestyle with a time of 38.41. He also finished fourth in the 25 Yard Freestyle and Butterfly plus the 50 Yard Backstroke. 

Carter Milbrath finished fourth in the Boys 13-14 50 Yard Backstroke. 

Luke Petersen finished sixth in the Boys 8 & Under 25 Yard Breaststroke. 

Brock Berkner finished seventh in the Men 15 & Over 100 Yard Freestyle and the 100 Yard Individual Medley. He also took eighth in the 100 Yard Butterfly. 

Cole Entriken finished seventh in the Boys 11-12 50 Yard Backstroke. 

Eleanor Milbrath led the way for the girls with a second place finish in the 9-10 200 Yard Freestyle and 100 Yard Butterfly. She also took fourth in the 50 Yard Freestyle as well as fifth in the 100 Yard Freestyle and 50 Yard Butterfly.

Hanna Paulson took sixth in the Women 15 & Over 50 Yard Breaststroke.  

Abigail Mohr earned sixth place in the 13-14 100 Yard Individual Medley. 

The Eels sent a total of 24 qualifiers to the State Meet in a variety of events.
