Eagles Hold Off Huskies at Wacker Field

The Jackson County Central baseball team battled to the end but ran out of time and chances against archrival Windom Area at Wacker Field on Thursday. 

The Huskies stranded at least one runner in every inning and had the tying run at the plate in the bottom of the seventh inning but the Eagles escaped with the 5-2 victory.

Windom scored four runs in the first and added one more in the top of the fourth.

Carson Kolander smacked a double and then scored the first JCC run with help from a wild pitch in the fourth. Thomas Liepold led off the fifth with a single and later scored. 

Gage Johnson started the game on the mound for JCC and got the first two outs by strikeout while allowing just one hit. He also gave up five walks and four runs with two of those earned. Carson Doescher took over in relief and kept the Huskies in the game by allowing just one more run on six hits with three strikeouts. 

The 4-11 Huskies return to the diamond on Monday in Worthington.
