Benson finishes 14th at Northwest Amateur

SPENCER – Jackson native Brett Benson, now of Odebolt, Iowa, placed 14th at the 97th Northwest Amateur Golf Tournament that concluded Sunday at Spencer Golf and Country Club.
Benson finished with a seven-under 281 total on rounds of 68, 72, 71 and 70.
JJ Cooney of Pickstown, S.D. was first at -17 271 (71-66-68-66).
He finished four shots ahead of two golfers that finished at -13 275, Justin Kolb of Sioux Falls (65-70-68-72) and Trent Peterson of Eagan (68-67-67-73).
Will Schiltz of Sioux City was the First Flight winner at -5 211, with Tyson Hendrickson of Estherville second at -3 213 and Nick Fear of Milford third with an even-par 216.
