44th Annual Agco Nationals Champ Crowned on Saturday
Mon 8-22-2022
The first two days of racing had to be canceled due to the weather and forced the 44th Annual Agco Jackson Nationals to become a double header on Saturday. The preliminary event got underway around noon with the finale taking place Saturday night. Carson Macedo got passed on the last lap to take runner up in the first race of the day on Saturday but he would not be denied in the finale as he led the final 19 laps of the 35 lap feature to take home first place and the $25,000 top prize. Here is the final call from the DirtVision announcers.
Macedo started out the day by setting a new track record for the fastest lap at 12.572 seconds. Everyone was wondering how the track would be at the Jackson Motorplex after the rain that moved through Thursday and Friday but Macedo was pretty happy with the conditions.
"I was happy with our result. To go from 8th to the lead there is pretty incredible, especially on a track like this where sometimes it can get a little bit strung out but they did an incredible job there with the track prep. I thought it was amazing. There was two lanes, very very wide, top bottom, you could go wherever to pass off cars it was pretty impressive. So hats off to Todd Quiring and the whole track crew prep. They did a great job."
Jacob Allen placed 2nd, David Gravel took 3rd, James McFadden finished in 4th and Spencer Bayston was 5th. That is the final event for the season at the Jackson Motorplex and work has already begun on the 2023 season. I personally want to thank Doug Johnson and the entire team at Jackson Motorplex for putting on a great season of racing even though the weather did not always cooperate and for always being so accommodating to giving interviews and answering questions throughout the season and I have to also give a shout out to Kristy Konda who has helped me learn a lot about racing in the past two seasons.
