Weather looks to impact back half of the weekend

Fri 2-7-2020

Another round of severe winter weather looks to impact our area later this weekend.  Meteorologist Brad Adams with the NWS in Sioux Falls outlines what we can expect…Brad Rogers 2 7 cut 1

“It looks like we’re going to have a pretty significant system impact parts of the region, certainly out your way and across a good portion of southern Minnesota and central parts of the state there.  Should get some snow developing probably late Saturday evening and then through the overnight hours into Sunday there.  Amounts look to be anywhere from 4-7 inches possible, potentially some locally higher amounts within a very narrow snow band.”

Winds are expected to be an impact as well…Brad Rogers 2 7 cut 2

“Yeah, there will be some wind, looks like we’re gonna have some wind here developing as the system pushes through, probably 20-30 miles per hour with a few higher gusts certainly will create some blowing and drifting snow.”

As the system moves closer, Adams says their confidence in what will happen is increasing…Brad Rogers 2 7 cut 3

“Yeah, that’s true, the models are coming into an agreement into a solution here, so we are becoming more confident that there will be a pretty significant band of 4-7 across portions of central and southern Minnesota.”

That was NWS meteorologist Brad Adams.  Keep radio tuned here.
