Jackson City Council - Jan. 7
The Jackson City Council met in regular session for their first meeting of the new year Tuesday night. Approval was given to an update of the Ambulance Department’s By-laws and Job Descriptions for 2020. The Council also approved a resolution approving the City employee D.O.T. drug and alcohol testing policy for CDL drivers (commercial driver’s licenses). Approval was given to the list of individuals serving on the City’s Boards, Commissions and Committees for 2020.
The Council declared rebar that wasn’t used for the new Water Storage Tank project as surplus and authorized for the solicitation of bids.
City Administrator Matt Skaret presented a year-end review and a preview of projects for 2020. Among the accomplishments in 2019 were the Water Storage Tank and Water Plant upgrades, Memorial Park project, Dewey Street Trail connection, the South Highway Street and Utilities reconstruction and opening of the new liquor store. Looking ahead for 2020, Skaret noted projects will include street and utility improvements on North Highway and South Street, installation of the AMI metering infrastructure, construction of the splashpad, renovation of the Ashley Park Shelter House and updating of the Comprehensive Land Use Plan and Zoning Ordinances.
