Windom Area hockey teams sweep Worthington

WINDOM – Host Windom Area swept a Big South Conference hockey doubleheader from Worthington Thursday at Windom City Arena.
Keaton Storm scored at 13:01 of the third to give the Eagle boys a 3-2 win in their season opener. Vincent Vongsy, who scored a goal in the first period, assisted on the game-winner.
Kyle Espenson and Eli Becker assisted on Vongsy's goal.
Kaleb LaCanne scored the Eagles' other goal, with Austin Fredin getting an assist.
Windom Area outshot Worthington 56-19. Cameron Koehne made 17 saves for the Eagles.
Anna Volk scored two goals for the Windom Area girls in a 4-2 win.
Marissa Becker and Katrina LaCanne each had one goal. Aba Turner picked up an assist.
The Eagles outshot the Trojans 21-20. Bethany Schmidt made 18 saves.
Both girls teams are 1-5. Windom Area is 1-2 in the BSC, while Worthington is 1-4.
Saturday, both Eagle teams host Minnesota River, with the girls game at 1 p.m. and the boys scheduled for 3 p.m.
