Two records fall in JCC win
JACKSON - Two school single-game records fell as the Jackson County Central football team was a 76-6 winner over Worthington Friday night at Swearingen Field.
The 76 points breaks the record of 69 set in 2015 vs. Martin County West.
Also, senior Rudy Voss threw seven touchdown passes, all in the first half. Jack Zelinko threw five TD passes vs. Glencoe-Silver Lake in 1999 and Tanner Menke threw five vs. West Central (S.D.) in 2012.
Voss was 12-for-18 passing for 199 yards, throwing touchdown passes to five different receivers.
He threw two TD passes to two players, Keaton Storm (16 and 31 yards) and Damian Meyer-Andre (18 and 14).
Others were to Nathaniel Post (39), Jack Brinkman (5) and Dalton Henning (24).
The Huskies also ran for four touchdowns, Coltan Bents (5), Bradley Buhl (23), Will Freking (1) and Gabe Wolff (4). Storm kicked 10 extra points.
Jackson County Central had 366 yards rushing and 213 passing for 579 yards total offense. Worthington had 21 yards on the ground and 144 in the air for 165 yards.
Bents rushed for 97 yards on nine carries, while Elijah Meium-Bratrud had 95 yards on eight tries.
Parker Benda interecepted pass and Andrew Hesebeck recovered a fumble.
The Huskies improve to 2-0, while the Trojans are 0-2.
JCC travels to Martin County West next Friday.
