Schmit to play in NAIA all-star game

KANSAS CITY - Jackson County Central graduate Brandon Schmit has been named to play for the West team in the inaugural National Association of Intercollege Athletics Senior Football Classic Dec. 14 in Savannah, Ga.
Schmit is a 6-foot-4, 285-pound senior offensive lineman at Dakota State University.
He started at right guard in the first two games and moved to the right tackle of the offensive line for the Trojans last season. Schmit helped DSU's offense to 3,130 passing yards, which was sixth in the nation; and 1,439 rushing yards.
Schmit was a first-team all-North Star Athletic Association selection last season.
He is the son of Michael and Lori Schmit of Jackson. He majors in professional accountancy-business technology at Dakota State.
The Trojans open their season at home on Thursday, Aug. 29 vs. Dakota Wesleyan.
