Crash South Of Jackson Sends Iowa Residents To The Hospital
(Jackson)- A crash just south of Jackson on Tuesday morning injured two Iowa residents. The Minnesota State Patrol and Jackson County Sheriff’s Office responded to the crash at 5:28 am, when a 2011 Nissan Maxima, driven by Jordan Michael Hawn, age 36 of Spirit Lake, was southbound on Highway 71.
Another vehicle, a 2011 Chevrolet Equinox, was being driven northbound by Maria Jose Cruzbanegas, age 27 of Estherville. The two vehicles collided just north of 750th Street in Jackson County, and Cruzbanegas was reportedly not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
Hawn and Cruzbanegas were both taken by ground ambulance to different medical centers. Hawn was taken to the Jackson Medical Center, and Cruzbanegas was taken to Lakes Regional Hospital. Both reportedly had non-life threatening injuries. The Jackson Fire Department and Jackson Ambulance both assisted at the scene.
