Wild Night in Worthington for Prelude to the Madness

Worthington Speedway had plenty of memorable moments on Saturday during the Prelude to the Madness.
Jimmy Cole overtook early leader Jace Whitt for the Modified win from the fourth starting spot in the nightcap. White faded to fifth place behind points leader Todd Stinehart, Josh Rogotzke, and Cole Bents.
Justin Luinenberg hounded Curt Lund for most of the Stock Car feature before flying by on the outside of the track to take the win from fifth. Lund settled for second ahead of Chris Toot, Cadyn Wessels, and Brad Derry.
Connor Vande Weerd charged forward from ninth place in a Sport Mod feature full of twists and turns. Tommy Tanner finished second place after inheriting the lead when Colby Fett gave it up because of car trouble. Willy Kirk, Cameron Vande Weerd, and Danny Myrvold completed the top five.
Austin Jahnz emerged victorious from eighth in a wild Hobby Stock feature. Brandon Nielsen took second and Blake Luieneberg was third after both challenged for the win. Josh Sidles overcame early trouble to finish fourth and Scott Wetter survived for fifth place.
Brooke Osler took advantage of heavy lap traffic to steal the Sport Compact victory from eighth. Justice Limoges led for most of the race but finished second place. Kaytee DeVries was part of a three-way battle for the lead but settled for third after contact with a lapped car. Zach Vande Kieft grabbed fourth and Skyler Savage was fifth.
Trevor Fluit made the right move to lead every lap of the Sportsmen feature after starting seventh. Chandler Meiburg, Trevor Ackerman, Scott Jones, and Troy Winter completed the top five.
Worthington Speedway welcomes five IMCA classes for the opening night of the Midwest Madness Tour on Sunday.
Grandstands open at 5:30 p.m. with hot laps at 6:30 and racing to follow.
Combat Rush is also part of the weekend action. The brand new Sioux Falls-based organization combines the thrill of dirt track racing with an adrenaline-fueled healing journey for disabled veterans.
