Fri 6-6-2025

The Big South Conference recognized six Jackson County Central softball team members on Friday.

The Big South named Lauren Johnson, Hadley Wachal, Bailey Finck, Mady Wachal, and Kinley VanDeVere to the all-conference team.

It’s the third time Huskies junior Hadley Wachal is on the all-conference team. She led the pitching staff in several categories, including wins and strikeouts.

Mady Wachal is on the all-conference team for the second time as a sophomore after earning an honorable mention in her career as well. She had the best ERA on the team as the second-most active pitcher and also led the team in sacrifice hits.

It's also the third time Finck is on the all-conference team. The Huskies junior started at catcher again for most of the season and also played shortstop this year. Finck batted in the most runs for the Huskies this year.

VanDeVere and Johnson are each on the all-conference team for the first time.

VanDeVere appeared in every game as an eighth-grader and typically started at shortstop with some starts at catcher while leading the team in many offensive categories such as batting average, hits, at-bats, doubles, runs scored, walks, and stolen bases.

Johnson is a senior who started every game at second base and led the team in singles this year.

Brielle Tufvesson received an honorable mention from the Big South. She continued to patrol center field all year for JCC and took a major step forward at the plate.

The Huskies collected a 13-1 conference record as the Small Schools division champion in the Big South.

JCC finished 23-6 overall and took fourth place at the Class AA State Tournament.
