MCW Football Moves to 4-0 on the Season
Mon 9-26-2022
The Martin County West football team moved to 4-0 on the season with a 14 to 7 win over the Adrian Ellsworth Dragons. The Dragons would get on the board first at the start of the second quarter but then the Mavericks would tie it up on their next possession. Zach Anderson found Carver Rohman wide open in the middle for a 70-yard completion that resulted in a touchdown.
Anderson completed 2 of 4 pass attempts for 75 yards and a TD. Joseph Forsberg had 19 carries for 61 yards. Anderson rushed 8 times for 37 yards while Carver Rohman had 7 carries for 36 yards and a touchdown. Rohman also ran for a touchdown when he hit a hole up the middle and took it in from 22 yards out. Rohman had both scores for the Mavericks on Friday. Neither team could score in the second half, but Adrian-Ellsworth definitely gave it their best effort. The Mavericks defense would prove to be too much down the stretch. Head coach Tom Elliot says he is happy with the win.
"I'm proud of the way the boys fought for four quarters. I mean we had some things go our way, we had some things not go our way. The ups and down of the game but we kept battling."
Wyatt Williamson led MCW with 12 tackles while Max Olson had 11. Rohman had 8 while Rylan Cutler had 6. The Mavericks are in New Ulm this Friday to take on New Ulm Cathedral. We will have coverage on Xtreme Country 105.7 starting at 6:45 with the pre-game and 7:00 for the kickoff.
