The Martin County West girls basketball team endured the first loss of the season in Cleveland on Monday night. 

The Mavericks trailed 34-19 at halftime and the Clippers kept a solid lead for the 54-43 victory. 

Ida Rohman led MCW with 13 points and eight rebounds. Ivy Olson added 10 points. 

Courtney Anderson scored seven points and had a pair of steals. Taylor Hughes scored six points, Bailey Larson added four points, Mirta Garcia had three points, and Emily Schettler scored one point. 

The 1-1 Mavericks visit Edgerton on Saturday.
