The Martin County West girls basketball team started the season with a win over Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop on the road Monday. 

MCW led 21-15 at halftime and pulled away in the second half to win 44-33 over GFW. 

Ida Rohman led the Mavericks with 13 points including a trio of three-pointers. Ivy Olson scored 10 to join her in double figures. 

Courtney Anderson added seven points and Taylor Hughes put in six points. Bailey Larson scored four points, Mirta Garcia added three points, and Emily Schettler had one point. 

 

The 1-0 Mavericks were scheduled to host Madelia in Sherburn on Tuesday night but the game has been postponed due to the weather forecast.
