JCC Volleyball Opens Season Play in Marshall this Saturday
To say they had a successful season last year would almost be an understatement as the JCC volleyball team finished with a record of 29-7 overall and a 2nd place finish at the Class AA State Tournament. The only thing that would have made it better would have been winning it all but Huskies head coach Deidre Wierson says getting to state last year has given the confidence of this year’s team a little boost.
The Huskies had a scrimmage on Saturday August 20th and coach Wierson says it was great to go up against an opponent to gauge where they are at.
The Huskies did lose 4 very good players to graduation in Georgianna Wenzel, Taylor Post, Sydney Osterberg and Sadie Voss and coach Wierson says it will be challenging to replace those players.
Wierson says the Huskies have some great senior leadership again this season so she is looking forward to seeing who will step up to fill certain roles on the team.
The Huskies travel to Marshall on Saturday to start off the season as they will participate in the Big South Conference showcase. They will take on St. Peter at 1:00. Tuesday August 30th the Huskies travel to Okabena to take on HLO-F and then their first home match will be on September 1st against Spirit Lake. The first match that we will have on the air at KKOJ will be on September 6th when the Huskies host Luverne. You can go to KKOJ.com or country 1057.com to find our fall sports broadcast schedule. You can tune in this Saturday at 9 am for the coaches show on KKOJ to hear the full interview with coach Wierson.
