Mon 2-27-2023

The Jackson County Central girls' basketball team lost a heartbreaker on Saturday to the Fairmont Cardinals in Section 3 class AA. The Huskies trailed by 10 at halftime and by as many as 16 at one point in the second half. They made a comeback and had the lead late in the 4th quarter before Cardinals junior Naveah Rahm hit a shot from the paint to give the Cardinals the win 67 to 66. The Huskies end their season at 11-13. The #3 seed Cardinals will face #2 Pipestone on Tuesday. Pipestone won the regular season game against the Cardinals, 64 to 47. Maci Farmer ended her basketball career with the Huskies by leading them one more time with 28 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists. Rylie Cother tossed in 20 while Kylee Wenzel had 13. The Huskies lose two seniors, Farmer and Brooklyn Stenzel so look for the Huskies to be competitive next season with younger players who gained a lot of varsity experience.
