JCC football team gets fresh set of opponents

Thu 5-14-2020

JACKSON - A fresh slate of opponents faces the Jackson County Central football team on its 2020 schedule.

Teams in the South Central District recently revamped their schedules with St. James Area not playing a varsity schedule in 2020.

The Huskies did not face any of the teams on this fall's schedule during the regular season last year, although they did face three in postseason play.

JCC defeated Luverne and Fairmont in the Section 3AAA playoffs and Waseca in the state Class 3A quarterfinals. Jackson County Central has not played Waseca or Fairmont in the regular season since 2006.

Three opponents are absent from the schedule of a Jackson-based team for the first time in a long while.

Jackson High School began playing Windom in 1928 and there were only two seasons that the Bluejays and Eagles did not play until consolidation in 1997. The teams didn't play in 1940 and a scheduled 1943 game was cancelled.

As JCC, the Huskies are 23-4 vs. Windom and has won 15 straight.

Also absent are Pipestone and Redwood Valley. The series with those schools had been continuous since 1948.
