ILCC men's basketball adds grad assistant

ESTHERVILLE - Iowa Lakes Community College men's basketball coach Troy Larson has announced the addition of Graduate Assistant Darryl Fletcher to its staff for the 2020-21 season.
Fletcher is a native of Austell, Georgia. He spent the last two seasons as an athletic director/varsity assistant under NJCAA Hall of Famer John Spezia at La Salette Academy in Georgetown, Ill.
“We're very fortunate to land an outstanding coach such as Darryl,” said Iowa Lakes coach Troy Larson. “He is very well respected and has learned from some of the best minds in the game. Thus he has a very good basketball mind and will be a valuable contributor to our staff. Darryl's connections and relationships will allow him to be an outstanding recruiter. His work ethic and desire to learn makes him the complete package.”
Prior to La Salette Academy, Fletcher was the assistant varsity coach at Allatoona and Discovery High School in Georgia, where he helped led the team to state championship games. He has also served as the coach for AC Georgia AAU program which, has had several Division I and II players.
“I'm so excited to be a part of the Iowa Lakes community,” Fletcher said. “Getting to know Coach Larson and McKinney over the past months has been amazing. I look forward to helping add to the winning tradition that is already in place and making our players better on and off the court.”
ILCC finished last season ranked 10th in the final National Junior College Athletic Association Division II poll with an overall record of 26-6 and had an Iowa Community College Athletic Conference record of 13-3.
