Huskies Qualify 10 For State, Kosbab Leads Mavericks

Jackson County Central qualified 10 athletes in eight different events for State Track and Field Meet during the Section 2A Championships in Mankato on Saturday.
Clay Malchow won the 300 Meter Hurdles with a time near the school record. He set a new school record in the 110 Meter Hurdles while finishing in third place and meeting the state-qualifying standard. Ben Dahlin reset his school record while winning the 200 Meters. Quinn Landherr qualified with a runner-up finish in the Pole Vault. Malchow, Dahlin, Landherr, and Isaac Hesebeck qualified in the 4x200 Relay after finishing just shy of another new school record.
The JCC boys finished in second place as a team behind Maple River.
Rylie Cother advanced to State in the girls High Jump and Long Jump with runner-up finishes. Allison Luebben, Natalia Botello-Ramos, Stevie Untiedt, and Zoey Hall combined for the third-best time in school history in the 4x200 Relay.
The JCC girls took fourth in the section behind Janesville Waldorf Pemberton, St. Clair/Immanuel Lutheran, and Mankato Loyola/Cleveland.
Bear Kosbab qualified for State from the Martin County West/Butterfield-Odin track and field teams.
Kosbab sprinted to second place in the 100 Meters to earn his spot.
