Horned Frogs Overtake Lakers at Home

The Lakefield Horned Frogs overtook the Heron Lake Lakers on Wednesday night at home.
Lakefield beat Heron Lake 9-5 at Stan King Field.
The Lakers took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning. The Frogs scored twice to make it 2-1 going into the second. Heron Lake scored three runs in the second to build a 4-2 lead. The Frogs jumped back out front 5-4 with another trio of runs in the fourth, added three more in the fifth, and scored one more in the sixth. Heron Lake scored once more in the ninth.
Taylor Christopher, Jace Jorgenson, and Carson Kolander each scored twice for the Frogs. Kolander had three hits and batted in a pair of runs.
Bryce Christopher scattered seven hits and allowed just one run. He also struck out nine batters and walked five in seven innings.
The 3-8 Frogs visit the Fairmont Martins next Wednesday.
The Lakers are 1-13 overall and 1-11 in First Nite League play. They visit the Hadley Buttermakers at 5 p.m. on Sunday.
