Doug Johnson on 43rd Annual Agco Jackson Nationals
Logan Schuchart went back to back by winning the 43rd Annual Agco Jackson Nationals on Sunday and it was a great weekend of racing. We couldn't properly end the story without talking to general manager of the Jackson Motorplex, Doug Johnson, who was happy with the weekend despite the rain.
"It was a bummer to get rained out on Saturday night because I honestly feel that we were on the verge of selling this place out on Saturday night. A lot of people couldn't stay and had to leave on Sunday. You know sometimes you can't control mother nature. I mean I think we were fortunate to get it on Sunday because you look at the weather around us, there was rain all around us late in the day so we gotta feel fortunate to get the show in and move on but overall I think things went extremely well and the racing on the track was fantastic."
Racing started on Thursday night and Johnson says it got started off on the right foot.
"I think Thursday night was probably one of the best races we've probably ever had during the Jackson Nationals. The product I think we put on the racetrack was second to none and hopefully that keeps bringing fans back and bringing new fans to the facility and to the event."
Johnson wasn't only working the race but cheering on his son Kaleb Johnson as well.
"Coming into this weekend he didn't have real high expectations never being in a 410 so to come and make the feature and actually compete and run with them guys he certainly didn't embarass himself and did an outstanding job of finishing 19th. Just to make the A feature I think was probably in the back of their mind one of their team goals. A little overjoyed to say the least to make that event at one of the biggest races in the entire country.
The Jackson Motorplex is off this weekend and will be back in action with the World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series on July 9th and 10th.
