Boys Impressive, Girls Improving as Huskies Split With Arrows

The Jackson County Central basketball teams split a doubleheader against Pipestone Area on Tuesday night.

The JCC boys opened their season with an 81-61 rout of Pipestone in the nightcap. 

Weston Rowe led all scorers with 24 points and Ben Gallagher added 16 points with each of them making a pair of three-pointers. Blaise Rowe sank four shots from beyond the arc as part of his 14-point night. Mason Foster knocked down a trio of threes in the first half and finished with 11 points. 

Sullivan Hall scored nine points. Austin O’Reilly had five points including the team’s ninth made three-pointer. Carter Buhl put in two points. 

The 1-0 JCC boys have another home doubleheader against St. James Area this Friday night. 

The Arrows outlasted the hometown Huskies 72-69 in the girls game.

Zadi Farmer led the Huskies with 24 points, Kinley VanDeVere added 18 points, and Mady Wachal had 14 points. 

Madelyn Rowe scored eight points, Payton Coquyt added three points, and Aliza Liepold had two points. 

The 0-3 JCC girls visit GHEC-T-ML on Thursday night and then return home against St. James on Friday.
