Windom man killed in motorcycle crash
A motorcycle vs. semi accident Wednesday afternoon near Bingham Lake has claimed the life of a Windom man.
According to a Cottonwood County Sherriff’s Office press release, around 12:30pm, 41 year-old Mark Raverty was riding a 2001 Harley Davidson motorcycle eastbound on Cottonwood County 17, and 65 year-old Luayn Ruch-Hammond of LaSalle was driving a 2005 Freightliner semi with a loaded gravel hauler southbound on Cottonwood County Road 2. . The two vehicles collided at the intersection. Raverty was not wearing a helmet.
Raverty was flown by medical helicopter to Sanford USD Medical Center and Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D. where he died.
The Windom Police Department, Minnesota State Patrol, Windom Fire Department, Windom Ambulance and Mountain Lake Ambulance all assisted at the scene.
