One injured in IA crash
(Sibley)-- A collision Friday involving a pickup and a semi at the Iowa/Minnesota border south of Bigelow sent one person to the hospital.
The Osceola County Sheriff's Office says 39-year-old Adam Rivera of Ellsworth, Minnesota was driving a 2011 Freightliner eastbound on 100th Street at the intersection with Highway 60 when he pulled into the path of a northbound 2005 Ford pickup driven by 76-year-old Dean Deweerdt of Sibley.
Deweerdt was extricated from the vehicle by non-mechanical means and was taken by ambulance to the Osceola Regional Health Center in Sibley.
Damage to the semi driven by Rivera was estimated at $5,000; the pickup driven by Deweerdt sustained an estimated $10,000 in damage.
The Sibley and Bigelow Fire Departments, Nobles County Sheriff's Office and the Minnesota State Patrol assisted on the scene.
The collision took place around 2:40 pm. Authorities say it remains under investigation.
