Jackson seeks to improve Nationals experience
The Jackson City Council heard an update from area representatives regarding a trip to Knoxville, IA earlier this week. The group met with representatives of the city to discuss how Jackson can better position itself to benefit from the growing Jackson Nationals.
City Administrator Matt Skaret, EDA Director Tom Nelson and Chamber Director Sharon Henning joined Councilman Donnie Schoenrock and Motorplex Manager Doug Johnson on the trip.
The Council approved purchasing new light pole banners for the downtown area. The City will purchase the banners for consistency in promoting the community.
In other action, the Council approved a burn permit for Dave Espy for his property at 76 River Street contingent on approval from the Jackson Fire Department and Jackson County Sheriff, pay applications for the Memorial Park Project, Water Storage Tank Project and the South Highway project. The Council also approved the donation of bicycles for the Bike Share program from the Friends of the Jackson County Trails Committee.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:40pm. Councilmen Matt Madden and Brandon Finck were the only members absent.
