Federated scholarship winners announced

(Jackson, Minn.) -- Nine area graduates have a diploma in one hand and a Federated scholarship in the other.

The Federated Rural Electric Trust recently awarded nine $700 scholarships. One scholarship was awarded in each of the six Federated districts, plus three more to the son/daughter of a Federated member for District At-Large where remaining applicants had a second chance to win. These are the same districts used for the co-op’s director elections.

The recipients from each district are listed:

  • District 1: Cobie Engbarth, Brewster. She graduates from Fulda High School. Engbarth is the granddaughter of Roger & Shelly Brunk.
  • District 2: Ean Hohenstein, Lakefield. He graduates from Jackson County Central High School. Hohenstein is the son of Lance and Dawn.
  • District 3: Lane Hansen, Jackson. He graduates from Jackson County Central High School. Hansen is the son of Paul & Tara.
  • District 4: Logan Potthoff, Dunnell. He graduates from Martin County West High School. Potthoff is the son Neal & Dawn.
  • District 5: Emma Behrends, Welcome. She graduates from Martin County West High School. Behrends is the daughter of Kim.
  • District 6: Jazlyn Meyer, Fairmont. She graduates from Fairmont High School. Meyer is the daughter of Joel & Dawn.
  • At-Large District: Matthew Holm, Dunnell. He graduates from Martin County West High School. Holm is the son of Tim & Tammy.
  • At-Large District: Austin Yonker, Bingham Lake. He graduates from Windom Area High School. Yonker is the son of Ed & Nikki.
  • At-Large District: Jessica Christoffer, Round Lake. She graduates from Jackson County Central High School. Christoffer is the daughter of Dean & Andrea.

44 students completed Federated’s short scholarship application. This is the 16th year that students had to apply.
