Pair of Lakers named all-region

LOUISVILLE – Two players from Iowa Lakes Community College have been named to the National Junior College Athletic Association Division II all-Midwest Region team by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.

Taylor Allen and Yasmine Nix represent the Lakers.

Allen, an outfielder-catcher from Neepawa, Manitoba, Canada was recognized on the first team as an outfielder.

Allen had a .464 batting average of .464 with an on-base percentage of .506. She had 77 hits, including 22 doubles, four triples, and 12 home runs. She had 54 runs batted in and scored 55 runs. She has also been named to the ICCAC all-Region first team and to the ICCAC academic all-Region first team.

Nix is a pitcher-infielder from Coachella, Calif. who is being recognized on the first team as a utility player.

She had a batting average of .469 with an on-base percentage of .497. Nix had 60 hits, including 15 doubles and eight home runs. Nix had 35 RBI and scored 31 times. As a pitcher, Nix recorded a 7-12 record, allowing 104 earned runs in 106 innings on 178 hits, striking out 57. She was also named to the ICCAC All-region first team.
