Midwest Power Series back at Motorplex

JACKSON - After a couple of scheduled weeks off, Jackson Motorplex starts the stretch run of its season Friday night.
The Midwest Power Series returns, co-sanctioned by the Midwest Sprint Touring Series and Nebraska 360 Sprints. Also running will be IMCA sprint cars and NSL non-wing sprint cars.
There has been an average of 39 drivers competing in four previous appearances of the Midwest Power Series this season, including a season-best 47 during the most recent race on July 13. That class pays $3,000 to win Friday.
Lee Grosz (Harwood, N.D.) leads the MSTS point standings, holding a 21-point advantage over Jack Dover (Springfield, Neb.).
Jody Rosenboom (Rock Rapids) trails by 132 points, Eric Lutz (Sioux Falls) is 242 points out and Ryan Bickett (Ramona, S.D.) rounds out the top five, 351 points off the pace.
Dover leads the Nebraska 360 standings by 143 points over Jason Martin (Lincoln).
Cody Ledger (Omaha) is third, 263 points out; Shayle Bade (Lincoln) is fourth, 389 points behind; and John Klabunde (Fort Calhoun, Neb.) is fifth, 700 points out.
Bickett, Dover, Thomas Kennedy and Dominic Scelzi have each claimed a win in the previous Midwest Power Series shows in Jackson.
Kaleb Johnson (Sioux Falls) has used a division-leading six top-five finishes to build a 19-point lead in the IMCA sprint car standings. Shane Fick (Brandon) ranks second, 19 points behind; and Jacob Hughes (Hartford, S.D.) is third, 21 points out of the lead.
Alex Schriever (Sioux Falls) is the only driver with more than one win in the NSL non-wing sprint class and leads Clinton Bruns (Little Rock) by 21 points in the championship standings.
Brandon Stevenson (Holstein) is third, 55 points out of the lead; Brandon Halverson (Jackson) is fourth, 69 points out; and Miles Grein (Lennox, S.D.) is fifth, 249 points out.
Hot laps are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. with racing to follow.
