ESTHERVILLE - The Iowa Lakes Community College volleyball team has added another player to its 2018 roster, this one from Texas.
Micaela Cornelius, a 5-foot defensive specialist, is a senior at Anna High School.
She is a dual-sport athlete, participating in both varsity volleyball and power lifting.
In her junior volleyball season, she received all-district honorable mention.
As a senior, she was first-team all-district and was her team's captain.
Also, Cornelius was the regional power lifting champion and a state qualifier.
She is a member of the National Society of High School Scholars and received academic all-district in her last two seasons with the Lady Coyotes.
"We are very excited to have such a passionate player on our team" said Iowa Lakes coach Hunter Porter. "Micaela is a very dedicated player who enjoys the challenge of defense. With her drive, quick feet, and the willingness to go after the "untouchable" ball, Micaela will be a spark to our roster. We are so fortunate to have such a hardworking self-motivated player join the Laker volleyball family."
Cornelius plans to pursue a degree in accounting.
