JCC tops Fairmont to reach state football playoffs

JANESVILLE – Jackson County Central advanced to the state Class 3A football playoffs with a 36-12 win over Fairmomt in the Section 3AAA championship game Saturday.

The Huskies are 10-0 and will play Waseca (8-2) at 12 p.m. next Saturday at Lakeville South High School in the state quarterfinals.

It's the fifth straight year the teams have played for the section title. JCC won 2015 and 2016, while Fairmont had won the last two years.

The Huskies ran the ball for 347 yards and had 64 yards passing for 411 total yards, while holding Fairmont to only 179 yards.

JCC limited the Cardinals to eight yards rushing on 23 attempts. Fairmont had 171 yards passing.

Elijah Meium-Bratrud rushed for 145 yards and Bradley Buhl went for 113.
