Eagles lose in OT in section tourney

MANKATO – Third-seeded Mankato East scored 2:41 into overtime to give the Cougars a 3-2 victory over Windom Area 3-2 in the first round of the Section 3A girls hockey tournament at All Seasons Arena.
There was no scoring until Camryn Steinberg scored for East at 11:36 of the second period.
The Eagles tied it at 13:02 of the second, with Abby Ignaszewski scoring with an assist going to Miranda Cory.
The Cougars went back ahead at 16:26 of the second and there was no more scoring until Windom Area tied it at 15:01 of the third with Anna Volk scoring unassisted.
However, East would get the game-winner in the extra session.
The Cougars outshot the Eagles 49-25. Emily Steen made 46 saves for Windom Area, which finishes the season with a 10-13-1 record.
