Bluejay, Laker wrestlers compete in Rochester

ROCHESTER - Minnesota West and Iowa Lakes both opened their wrestling seasons Saturday at the Rochester Open.
Eliot Jurries (Sherburn) went 3-2 and placed eighth at 141 pounds for Minnesota West.
He was a two-time state place winner for Jackson County Central, winning the 132-pound title in 2014 and placing fifth at 126 in 2013.
Another former JCC state champion, Dalton Wagner, will also wrestle for the Bluejays, but was still involved with the Minnesota West football team in the state playoffs this weekend.
The Lakers had six place winners, with the top finisher being Matthew Jordan (Des Moines), who was second at 125 pounds.
ILCC had two third-place finishers, Robert Hall Jr (Killeen, Tex.) at 141 and Mitchell Williamson (River Falls, Wis.) at 285.
Three wrestlers placed eighth, Tykwan Joyner (Dover, Del.) at 133, Deville Dentis (Des Moines) at 149 and Austin Hinzman (Akron, Ohio) at 184.
Iowa Lakes is at Iowa Western for a dual Wednesday, while Minnesota West heads to Mitchell for the Dakota Wesleyan Open Saturday.
