Beisch's buzzer-beater gives ILCC win
ESTHERVILLE - Kyle Beisch's three-point basket at the buzzer gave Iowa Lakes an 81-80 over NIACC in the first round of the NJCAA Region XI men's basketball tournament Tuesday night.
NIACC missed two free throws with five seconds remaining with the Trojans leading 80-78. The Lakers quickly moved the ball into the front court and Beisch hit his game-winning shot.
Nick Wagner led ILCC in scoring with 19 points.
Christian Kyles added 14 points, with Solomon Clayton and Dennis Joiner each adding 10.
Nick Wurm led NIACC with 27 points.
Iowa Lakes, now 23-8, hosts defending national champion Southwestern (24-7) in the regional semifinals Thursday. The Spartans defeated Des Moines Area Community College 92-51 Tuesday.
Iowa Central (20-11) plays at Kirkwood (24-5) in Thursday's other semifinal. On Tuesday, the Tritons defeated Ellsworth 72-67 and the Eagles beat Little Priest Tribal College 98-78.
The championship game is Saturday at the highest remaining seed.
